I give it a 7.
I liked the basic story and thought that Nicholas Cage was good as the sorcerer. Jay Baruchel, who plays the apprentice is not believable. He seems to intentionally ramp up the nerd factor by making stupid faces and moving in awkward ways, just a bit too contrived. In his character, there was too much "Wow, this sorcerer thing is great." and "I just can't handle this." back and forth. I got tired of that.
There was a great scene with the mops and water, music and all that I loved. The movie kept me interested throughout and I'd recommend it to friends.
